We are just going to cut to the chase here. Business broker training books and manuals are NOT the way to train to become a business broker. They are good for a solid foundation but anyone getting into business brokering needs more and should NEVER rely on books and manuals to jump into business brokering.

The most unprepared business broker is one who is trained by a book or manual. They are available everywhere from so-called programs like "Business Broker In A Box" for under $40 to more comprehensive programs by industry experts for between $200-$1,000 depending on the package. The latter is great for a business broker's library but not for primary training.

Negatives to Book or Manual training...

  1. Incomplete training providing background not experience

  2. Not current - will teach what worked in the past not now

  3. No ongoing education for current systems that work

  4. No live or only interaction

PLEASE if you do not have the investment for real training then do not get into business brokering. The majority of business brokers trained by a book or manuals ending up flying by the seat of their pants and giving the brokering industry a black eye.
